Still Alive
05:36
|
|
||
A sheer ascent, a staggering height
Awaits those bent on braving winter’s treacherous night
The clouds convey the darkest dream
Amidst the fray a single hope shines one lone beam
So we trek in greatest haste
Chasing waning light
Though we’re prone to fall away
We will not lose sight
When the world comes crashing down my friend
I will pick you up again
Come hell or high water, flare light rushes skyward
Our beacon of hope in dark night
The slow burn reminds us against odds we are still alive
We heard the rain sing us to sleep
We’ve seen the trickling runoff tumble into the deep
We’ve felt the cold, we braced the storm
And as the thunder rolled we watched the tempest form
Now we’ve made a mess of this
Lost and left for dead
Staring down this precipice
Hanging by a thread
Chorus:
When the world comes crashing down my friend
I will pick you up again
Come hell or high water, flare light rushes skyward
Our beacon of hope in dark night
The slow burn reminds us against odds we are still alive
Hold on, help is coming
Hold on
Chorus:
When the world comes crashing down my friend
I will pick you up again
Come hell or high water, flare light rushes skyward
Our beacon of hope in dark night
The slow burn reminds us against odds we are still alive
The slow burn reminds us against odds we are still alive

True North
03:14
|
|
||
The tide is high, the time is now
To say goodbye, to leave this town
For shores unknown, push off and go
My brothers and I will find our home
The journey’s long, but we’ve got company
And a new song to sing to carry us on
And though the oceans rage, this will never change:
Our one true north is Love
It won’t be long ‘fore we see our fate
‘Til we find land or a watery grave
On Earth we’ll run, or meet the Son of Man
It might be today , it might be today
The current’s strong, O Lord I am weak
But You keep me on my feet when my sea legs have gone
And though the oceans rage, this will never change:
Our one true north is Love
Love Love Love Love Love Love
Yes my Savior loves me, yes He really loves me, yes I really love my Savior

Tumbling

Once upon a happier time
You and I had our hill to climb
It happened in prose but I'll sing it in rhyme for now
We had a goal and we had a task
To ascend to the top and to fill up our flask
Is one little drink still too much to ask for us
And you came tumbling down
And I came running after
Past the point now where reasoning helps
(But it’s alright now)
Pushed beyond malice and pulled into something else
(But it’s alright now)
And I'm missing the days where I missed you at all
(But it’s alright now)
And so I go tumbling down after you
Pick up my ball, pick up my chain
Pick up my chin and I start out again
But this whole tale is nothing but pain for me
Yeah we ambled up, hand in hand
And the scrapes on our knees help us understand
That this journey we're on is not quite so grand anymore
And we came crumbling down
And there was no “thereafter”
Past the point now where reasoning helps
(But it’s alright now)
Pushed beyond malice and pulled into something else
(But it’s alright now)
And I'm missing the days where I missed you at all
(But it’s alright now)
And so I go tumbling down after you
Don't fall away
Don’t fall away
Don’t fall away
After me
And I'm no longer battered, tattered or torn
My heart is not broken just incredibly worn
And there's no need to cry and no need to mourn for you

The Balladeer
06:31
|

There's a man on a power line dangling from the sky
Asking God for the second time why did you take his wife away
He stares down to the traffic whizzing by, and he starts to cry
A hundred feet below that maze of cable in the clouds
Betty Jean's been gone for days, she didn't take her pills
And now she's walking into traffic and the people just assume that she knows how
I am sitting here and marinating in my scorn
I've got cold feet but the electric heat from this laptop keeps me warm
I could move but that would only prove that my volition's mine to kill
The line man talks and Betty walks, but I am standing still
Captain Ivan is sinking down into the Bering Strait
Though the iceberg tore his vessel's bow he stays with her content to wait
'Til the ocean's deep fills up his dying lungs, a tune he hums
Father John balls up his fist as the poison takes control
Once a loyal communist, he later took to saving souls
And a public execution was his prize, he slowly dies
I have not known sinking ships or martyrdom's sour kiss
All is laced with the bitter taste of the flavors I have missed
To fear is to tell stories of a million other fates
Ivan sinks and the father drinks, but the balladeer just waits
Oh, my dreams and salient schemes have wrecked this weary ship
Dashed to rocks but yet still docked, anchored to a clever quip
Someone please save me for I am all alone
Grab the oars and set the course
The balladeer is home

Pick Me Up
04:46
|
|
||
Pick me up because I'm falling down
Falling hard for you and for the sound
Of your heart and my heart keeping perfect time
Pick me up and say that you'll be mine
Pick me up so I can walk with you
We'll watch the colors change from black to blue
Hour after hour, the stars and then the sun
Pick me up, our journey's just begun
Oooh, love is not so hard
When you punch your card with your best friend
Oooh, Some say love is tough
But with a little luck we both can take it
I know we can make it
Oooh, I'll be there for you
I will carry you when you're beaten down
Oooh, I get beaten too
But we will make it through if we just keep on going
When I try to say we've reached the end
Pick me up and we'll make our amends
I'll fall down somewhere around the bend
Pick me up and we'll start out again
